I would like to transition from my FTE position to a specialized consulting/contracting business that I have been operating for the past several years with annual revenues of $10-12k. Revenues are low because there is not enough time in the day to maintain both FTE and consulting. If you made a transition, how did you do it? I believe I could simply quit and then hold my nose and jump in feet first, expecting a ramp-up time where I draw from savings and hope for a reasonably quick recovery of income.
