HDMI on Gaming Consoles
You would think with gaming consoles costing SO MUCH you would at least get an HDMI port that can take a reasonable amount of impact, yet 1 cable gets tugged a little and broken it is. As you know, you need a very very small percision tip, soldering paste, microscopic vision and a thermostat controlled iron to + preferring a heat gun to help it melt without damaging other nearby parts. When I took this thing apart, there was NO refinforcement whatsoever other than a useless heat shield which curved around but put all the stress on the most vulnerable part of the port, the plastic. Seriously, plastic, why not ceramic if you are charging 700$ for a system, at least use the ceramic ones. This is exactly the reason I am never buying a new system ever again. Brand new PS5 collects dust and why an HDMI port that barely got breathed on's plastic center broke off like a twig. 0 comments on Hacker News.
